Stay fit, says Kira Mayor Julius Mutebi

Mutebi made the remarks at the closing of the Mandela run, that had over 300 participations taking part in the 5km,10km and 21km.

Kira Municipality Mayor Julius Mutebi has urged the locals to always participate in different activities that will keep their bodies fit.

Mutebi  made the remarks at the closing of the Mandela  run, that  had over 300  participations taking part in the 5km,10km and 21km.

"Am so grateful for the tireless and heroic sacrifices you have offered in terms of organizing this event aimed at preventing diabetes mainly in Kira Municipality. On behalf of the council I would want to thank the participants for having endured their time to participate in
the run," Mutebi who participated in 10km said.

The funds collected from the run will be used to purchase equipment that will help to check members who are diagnosed with diabetes within the community at Kira health center lll.

The event organized by Namboole Health Club had participants from areas of Namboole, Bweyogerere and Kira Municipality.

However, the founder of the club Omar Mubiru called for more support from sponsors.

"Am very grateful for the successful of the second edition of the event and we promise to continue with this program annually. As the club we call upon sponsors to support our programs such that we improve the lives of people," Kimuri said.

The club that started with a few members in 2010, has now increased its membership to 300 registered people . The run was organized to honor the international day of Nelson Mandela that is slated for July
