UVF to amend constitution

One of enthusiastic delegates to the UVF assembly argued that unless the federation leadership tames their club sentiments and give the commission total independence, efforts to avoid disagreements in managing the sport will be in vain.

Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) officials will converge to review their constitution on Saturday to give their sports organizing commission absolute powers in managing competitions and restrict interferences from their political leaders.

At the moment, the chairman of the commission is appointed by the UVF president and this has continued to attract a lot of criticism especially when the appointed appears to lean towards interests of the appointing authority or club of origin.

Outgoing UVF president Sadik Nasiwu has endured such criticism close to eight years as he has fired three previous bosses of the sports organizing commission of the federation.

One particular case involved disagreement between Nasiwu and his first sports organizing commission chairman Rafi Bachu (KCCA) who was fired over the players for transfers to Ndejje University.

But Nasiwu insisted that all the three -Bachu, Innocent Komakech and Juma Osunge were replaced because of individual weaknesses that did not favour growth of the sport.
