Traders in Kikuubo business center have demonstrated against an operation carried out by URA officials who closed their shops and confiscated their goods alleging that they were selling fake and illegal cosmetic products.

Led by their chairman Moses Mugisha, the traders on Thursday condemned the act and marched to the ministry of trade offices located at Parliamentary Avenue to seek help from the ministry.

When contacted, the URA commissioner in charge of operations, Agnes Nabwire, defended the operation.

"It was done for the greater good of the public who have been standing the risk of being infected with cancer related disease over these dangerous cosmetic products," she said.

She said the operation was carried out in collaboration with Uganda National Bureau of Standards.
