“I received a fall call from these people that they had wanted to sell me a human skull."

The police in Kibaale district are investigating circumstances under which two men were found in possession of a human skull.

Simon Kiiza and Salongo Busulwa were arrested as they tried to sell a human skull and bones to Alex Asiimwe, a witchdoctor.

Both residents of Kihumuro village in Bwanswa sub-county, the men contacted Asiimwe and asked him if he was interested in buying the bones.

“I received a fall call from these people that they had wanted to sell me a human skull,” he said.

But the traditional healer became suspicious and alerted police.

Asiimwe then, according to a set plan with police, directed the two suspects to his shrine. They carried to human skull and bones in a used paper bag.

Police came just in time to nab the two men red-handed trying to sell off their items. They wanted sh300, 000 for the skull.

They were whisked off to Kihumuro Police Station for further investigations.

Once in custody, Kiiza and Busulwa admitted to having been in possession of the human skull but claimed to have got it from a construction site as they dug a foundation.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that they got the skull from a construction site and decided to get money from it,” Ben Mugisha, the district crime intelligence officer, told New Vision.

He said they have sent the human bone to a pathologist for further investigations before sending the file to the state attorney for advice of charges to be preferred against the suspects.

They were later released on police bond as they await a report from the pathologist.
