KAMPALA - Munyonyo Martyrs Shrine has received a new shrine rector Fr Wojtek Ulman, known in Uganda as Father Male.

The Polish-born cleric is the former parish priest of St Francis Matugga located along Bombo road and replace fellow countryman Fr Dr. Marion Golab Kajubi, after three years of service.

Kajubi spearheaded the construction of the new church of the Munyonyo shrine that hosted Pope Francis late last year.

Earlier this year, the Kampala Archdiocese turned the shrine into a fully-fledged Catholic parish. And according to Archbishop Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, it was done in remembrance of Pope Francis's pilgrimage to the shrine in November.

Munyonyo is headed by the Franciscans Fathers, a religious congregation in the Catholic Church. It became the 64th Catholic Parish in Kampala Archdiocese.
