National Council of Sports has bailed out Mr. Universe Ivan Byekwaso and International Natural Bodybuilding Association World Bodybuilding Championship Mubarak Kizito with sh17m as they head to the world natural bodybuilding championship in Budapest, Hungary, June 10-11.

And the two muscle men left for the annual championship in high spirits and with high hopes of another medal laden performance like it was last year.

"We are supporting them because both have a profile that speaks for itself; they are not only world champions but gallant nationalists who are going to represent the country,"

"We promise where we have started we shall continue working with them to open up other centers across the country starting with the one in Lira and other regions to be able to create more champions," Muramagi said.

"This is what we are going to be doing going forward, as we want to turn around the sports sub-sector and are glad to associate with these champions. We are not just going to talk but produce action oriented output despite the small resources; our support is going to be strategically focused because we want them to be role models," Muramagi stated.

Apart from the air tickets, NCS paid for their visa and participation fees and out of pocket of $500 each.

"Since last year I have been training very hard and I have been waiting for this moment. This is the year that Uganda body building should bear more fruit and I thank National Council of Sports (NCS) for supporting us and we are going to work hard to ensure we come back with medals," Byekwaso said.

"I don't make empty promises and as usual I'm going for gold because God loves me," Byekwaso remarked before thanking his other partners ETM Church and Buziga Country Club for helping him in his training.

"I won gold on my debut at the world championship in Dubai last year and I'm confident I can do it again since I'm now more confident and has prepared well," Kizito added after the two were presented with the national flag and sh17m dummy cheque.

National Council of Sports General Secretary Nicholas Muramagi flagged off the two yesterday imploring them to fly it high as they were representing 34 million people.

Last year Byekwaso was a double world champion winning the Mr. Universe and AM World Cup in the US before finishing 5th in the Natural Olympia while Kizito beat over 30 opponents to the gold at the Dubai Sports City Dome.
