Kwibuka Peace Tournament (10-15 July)

A select side of 16 players from the 2016 Pepsi Girls Cricket Week is set to participate in this year's edition of the Kwibuka Peace Tournament due 10-15 July in Rwanda.

Uganda will be put to the test, competing with senior national teams from Kenya and the hosts Rwanda.

Certainly the girls feel they have a point to prove following their domestic successes.

"We are ready and determined to leave a mark on the annual tournament. The trophy is ours to lose" said Racheal Ntono the captain of Ugandan select side during the official flag off at Lugogo on Wednesday.

This will be Habib Mugalula's first undertaking as U19 girls' head coach following his appointment a fortnight ago.

"I'm embracing the task before me with hope and determination. We have what it takes to win the tournament" Mugalula said.

The event is held annually in remembrance of the people who lost their lives in the Rwanda genocide and Kenya is the defending champion.
