Background:
The mission of the Infeolious, Disease, Institute (IDI) is to build capacity of health systems In Africa with strong emphesls on Infectious diseases through research, end capacity development.lDI has five operational areas, through which it works to achieve its mission: Prevention, Care and Treaiment; Training, Research and Laboratory services (provided through a partnership with the Makerere University-John Hopkins University Core Lab) and Outreach.
The Ugandan Academy for Health Innovation and Impact (The Academy) is one of the programs housed within the IDI. The Academy was formed after a MOU between several partners including Uganda Ministry of Health, IDI, Jonssen, the pharmaceutical companies of Johnson and Johnson, and the Johnson and Johnson Corporate Citizenship Trust in 2015.
The Academy's mission is to urgently and demonstrably improve health outcomes for people living with or being affected by HIV and TB through a range of carefully focused interventions combining apllied relevant research resulting in improved national Policy/guidelines, and associated training and systematic ongoing support.
The Academy will manage funding for projects in clinical development, operational research and capacity building. Primary focus will be HIV/TB, with the potential to expand to maternal and child health. The academy is managed by a Board and supported by a Secretariat, which is closely connected to the Infectious Diseases Institute and headed by a Program Director and Program Manager.
The Ugandan Academy for Health Innovation and Impact is an independent group of health expersts who collaborate in an open innovation spirit to tackle health problems specific to Uganda. The Ugandan Academy was established as part of the Connect for Life program of Janssen Global Public Health (part of the Johnson and Johnson Family of Companies) and receives funding through the Johnson and Johnson Corporate Citizenhip Trust.
In order to implement the Academy activities, IDI is seeking to recruit someone for the position of Monitoring and Evaluation Officer as follows

General Summary:
The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) specialist is expected to play a key role in guiding the Academy staff and other relevant stakeholders involved in the implementation of the M&E system
Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Program Manager of the Academy, aciting in close cooperation with the IDI Head of M&E, and other M&E technical experts, the specific duties of the M&E specialist are:

Reporting
The M&E specialist will report to the Programm Manager with regular (e.g weekly) briefs on the status of assigned tasks. The incumbent will also prepare quartely reports on progress made in realizing the objectives and outputs of the assignment. At the end of the first year, the specialist will prepare an annual report focusing on the results and achievements against the above-cited outputs/results
