The Police passed out 89 officers at their command and staff college at Bwebajja after six months of rigorous fitness training, sand modeling and operational planning.

The function at the college on the Bwebajja hill (off Entebbe road) was honored by the Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura and internal affairs minister Rose Akol.

The senior police and army officers who were decorated with three stars (ASP) and those adorned with a court of arms and one star (SP) at the recent police promotions needed the intermediate command training before they can assume their new assignments.

Deputy police spokesperson Polly Namaye said: "The 89 police officers are from ASP (Assistant Superintendent of Police) to SP (Superintendent of Police).

"We have others who are still training for the rank of Commissioner from SSP (Senior Superintendent of Police).

"They came in December. Training took six months. Soon after (their) training, they are expected to go to Nairobi (in Kenya) to train at a number of institutions they select," said the deputy police spokesperson ahead of the function.
