Post primary football: Sunday roundup

The tournament, taking place at Teso College Aloet, enters its second week.

SOROTI - Defending champions St. Mary's Kitende advanced to the next round of the national post primary football championship after thoroughly beating Nkoma Secondary School 7-0.

Despite playing one man short after their playing was red-carded, Kitende put up a dominant display as they tore apart a subdued opposition.

They showed the level of character that has seen them win all their six games played so far in this campaign.

The tournament, taking place at Teso College Aloet, enters its second week with many teams now through to the last 16.

Bishop's Senior Secondary School also advanced to the round of 16 after being held to a 1-1 draw by Kabalega Secondary School.

Ali Swali gave Bishop's the lead before Meddie Lukoya ensured the two sides each bagged a point with a late equalizer.

There was an identical result as Kabale Brainstorm Secondary School also played out a draw against Amuria Secondary School. Both goals were scored in the second half by Vincent Onen (Brainstorm) and Okware Moses (Amuria).

However, the two sides did not make it out of the group stages.

Kawempe Moslem suffered a 1-2 defeat to Amus College School. Also, both teams failed to advance to the next round.

Standard High Zzana also moved on to the next round after thrashing St. Mary's Heritage 4-0. Heritage failed to go through.

Royal Giant High School are now out after losing 3-0 to Nakaseke International Secondary School who have booked a place in the round of 16.

It was a day of goals as Masaka Secondary School beat Kigumba Secondary School 6-0. Masaka have won all their five games played so far. Kigumba did not make it out of the group stage.

Bulo Parents Secondary School qualified after beating Mulusa Academy 2-1 as St Juliana Secondary School also made it through to the next stage after a 1-0 win over St Joseph Layibi.

Mulusa and Layibi are out.
