Woman commits suicide over husband's infidelity

Shock gripped residents Kigumba sub-county, Kiryandongo district after a woman committed suicide.  This after her husband abandoned her for another woman.

Joyce Nyanjura, 24, a wife of Moses Wataka, a resident of Kijja village in Kigumba Sub County, Kiryandongo district jumped into the middle of the road and was knocked dead by speeding bus that was heading to Kampala along Kampala-Gulu highway on Monday.

Her relatives said that Nyanjura repeatedly talked of committing sucide accusing her husband of leaving her for another woman in Kigumba town. He left her with six children without shelter and other basic needs like food.

The area LC1 chairperson, John Bagonza, confirmed the incident.

"Yes my office received the complaints many times and we tried our best to bring the couple together but in vain," he said.

Adding: "It's not the first time Nyanjura attempted to commit suicide.
