On April 7, 2013, Police arrested five Muslim leaders over a wrangle at Quoba Mosque in Shamutumba village in the same district.

The Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Mubajje, has finally intervened in the leadership wrangles dogging Busia Muslim district council.

In a statement from Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) spokesperson, Haj Nsereko Mutumba, Mubajje urged those involved to channel their concerns through the channels stipulated in the UMSC Constitution.

The Mufti was on Wednesday addressing the Busia Muslim council leaders in the district.
The district Kadhi, Ibrahim Wandera, agreed to step down in a move to calm the situation and ensure smooth investigations into the issues at hand, said the statement.

Sheikh Jamiru Abanjo is now the acting Kadhi. On April 7, 2013, Police arrested five Muslim leaders over a wrangle at Quoba Mosque in Shamutumba village in the same district.

The men were arrested after a fight between a faction in favour of Sheikh Iddi Kagoda and that of Darausi Khattib broke out at the mosque as a group of angry Muslims attempted to evict Sheikh Iddi Kagoda from the mosque.

Kagoda was accused of collecting over 70 children and turning the mosque into a school and a dormitory.

Meanwhile, Mubajje has lauded the district Kadhi of Tororo district Sheikh Ibrahim Asante for championing development among Muslims in the area.

He was on Wednesday addressing Muslims at the Tororo Muslim district council headquarters in Tororo town.

Mubajje particularly commended Sheikh Asante for securing 16 land titles of Muslim properties in and around Tororo town.

One of the properties whose land title has been secured is Aturukuku Primary School which the Mufti visited. He urged Aturukuku school children to obey their parents and teachers in order to pass and excel in both Islamic and secular studies.
