Mar 30, 2016

According to Otika, the sub- county produced only four pupils in first grade in 2015 compared to 12 in 2014.

Awach sub-county, in Gulu district has resolved to construct teachers' accommodation in and around all schools ,to enable teachers report to school on time, to teach pupils especially Primary Seven candidates

The Sub County Local Council (LC)3 chairman, Akena Shanon Otika ,says one of the reasons the sub-county was performing poorly in Primary Leaving Exams, is because teachers commute from distant places, which makes them reach late to school and leave their respective schools early.

According to Otika, the sub- county produced only four pupils in first grade in 2015 compared to 12 in 2014.

He also attributes the declining performance to the unplanned transfer of teachers ,whom pupils were acquainted with right from lower to upper primary to other schools and bringing in new ones who come with their own styles of teaching.

Otika calls on parents to respond positively whenever they are called to offer support to their children's schools.
