Koboko girls counselled on sex, studies

“You will have to get pregnant yet you are still young. Even during delivery you can die."

Senior education officer of Koboko district, Rose Lilly Alivuni, has called on girls to concentrate on their studies if they want to have a meaningful life head.

She said girls drop out of school due to circumstances that befall them, including unwanted pregnancies and negative peer group influence.

The education official called on girls to avoid bad peers and instead invest their energies and focus on education in order to be self-reliant.

"Young people are now behaving in a queer way. You cannot go and have sex with somebody, there are so many dangers," she said.

Alivuni warned: "You will have to get pregnant yet you are still young. Even during delivery you can die.

"Please my daughters listen to your parents. Listen to any elder who talks to you about your sex. Think about your future so that tomorrow you will study hard.

"Reach university and make sure you are somebody tomorrow."
