Football fans organise prayers for Abbey Dhaira

Bright Dhaira disclosed that his daughter Oliver Mbakira had told the family that Abbey's situation was worsening

As former Cranes goalkeeper Abbey Dhaira continues his battle against cancer, thousands of football fans and well-wishers from the country will join hands in prayer for his health this Friday at Walukuba.

 

Bright Dhaira his father together with family and friends decided to organise the masses to join hands as a way of seeking God's intervention.

 

The shot stopper is in intensive care at International University Hospital of Iceland where he has been hospitalised for the last two months after doctors from Nsambya Hospital discovered that he had intestinal cancer.

 

Bright Dhaira disclosed that his daughter Oliver Mbakira had told the family that Abbey's situation was worsening.

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

''My son's situation is worsening because cause apparently he is in intensive care on oxygen. We need to join hands in prayer so that the almighty can somehow remember that Abbey still needs to live and fulfill his mission on earth as a footballer,' said Bright Dhaira.

 

Abbey Dhaira started his footballing career at Walukuba Red Stars FC in the first division.

 

He then played for neighbours Boca Juniors, Wama FC, Aldinah FC all as a striker after which he started his goalkeeping career at Mbale Industrial before he moved to Express FC.

 

He then enjoyed spells at URA, Simba FC in Tanzania, SC Vital of DRC after which he crossed over to IBV Vestmannaeyjar of Iceland on a three year contract before he was allowed to return home for treatment.
