Ngora school head steps aside after strike

Okapel High School was yesterday closed after students held a strike protesting the transfer of their teachers


The head teacher, Okapel High School in Kapir Sub County, in Ngora district, has stepped aside for his deputy to run the school following a Monday strike by students.

A joint Board of Governors and PTA meeting held at the school ground Tuesday came up with this resolution that Alfonse Alumu hands over the school to his deputy, Simon Okiiru.

Vigil Okurut, the chairman BOG, said a meeting also resolved to have the school opened tomorrow 23/03/2016.

The inspector of schools, Ngora, Geoffrey Milton Okuna, said Okapel high school was closed after students became rowdy to their headmaster.

The chairman LC 3 Kapir Sub County, Bonnie Ochen, appealed to students to turn up in big numbers ready for studies tomorrow.

According to a senior woman teacher Petua Ademun, representative of teachers, they will be ready to teach tomorrow.

Alumu accepted to step aside saying he was sent with a letter from the ministry of education and sports during posting, and will require one while leaving
