FMU president Dusman Okee confirmed the development saying that safety is the main focus of the federation

The Motorsport governing body (FMU) has postponed the Gorilla in the Mist Rally to next month April 8-10 in the same district of Kabale.

FMU president Dusman Okee confirmed the development to New Vision Sport saying that safety is the main focus of the federation and the event meant for Easter weekend will now be held next month.

"We have decided to postpone the event because of the Rift Valley Fever which has attacked the region and we don't want to risk the lives of our drivers and fans," Okee stated.

"We hope that by next month April 8-10 the ministry of health will be in control of the situation and we shall have a better event," Okee added.

The Gorilla in the Mist rally has attracted drivers from Rwanda and Burundi and will be the first edition of East African rally series as the event will score points on all the three East African countries, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi who are competing for the championship.

The event will cover a distance of 391.7km of which 185.7km is competitive.
