Four FIFA referees will have to undergo a medical and physical fitness test again after failing it on Monday.

Samuel Kayondo was below the medical standard required while Fred Byamukama, Anna Akoyi and Ali Kaddu failed the physical fitness test.

This was during member association referees and assessors course at Jinja Secondary School playground.

A total of 36 referees' and assessors are being taken through different course modules since Sunday, March 13 and will stay for another five days at the FUFA Technical centre in Njeru during the elite course.

The course started with medical tests on Sunday at the technical centre before emphasis on physical fitness on Monday.

According to the FUFA Referees Standing Committee chairman, Chris Kalibbala, the course was extremely beneficial to the officials and to Ugandan football.

"We are thankful to FIFA and FUFA for having organised this course and it has gone on well so far, unfortunately some of our referees failed the fitness test," said Kalibbala.

He said: "When we came here, some others failed the medical and fitness tests. Samuel Kayondo was below the medical standard required, Fred Byamukama sustained a muscle pull, Anna Akoyi and Ali Kaddu did not finish the long distance laps."

The course will end on Friday at Njeru. FIFA referee instructors led by Carlos Henriques who is also the Regional Development Officer from Gaborone, Felix Tangawarina a Technical Instructor from Zimbabwe and Mark Mzengo a Fitness Instructor from Malawi are training the 36 referees and are being helped by local referee instructors who include Ali Kalyango and Rehema Kizito.
