Rainbow International School beat British International School of Cairo 1-0 to emerge the 2016 Council of British International Schools (COBIS) Games champion in the girls' football tournament in Dubai over the weekend.

In a tense match played in intense heat, the Rainbow girls dominated play but failed to score until late in the second half when Aliakai Onabikoa scored a goal from a free kick.

The victory ensured Rainbow ended the tournament unbeaten and coach Mildred Gamba lauded the school administration for supporting girls' football.

"Girls' football at Rainbow has been on the upward trend over the past couple of years and this victory at an international level shows how far we have come. The girls have made us proud and indeed the whole of Uganda" Gamba stated.

This was Rainbow's third successive year of participation and once again they were the only school from East Africa at the Games.
