Naluwooza's junior badminton dominancy ends

Shamika stunned the 2015 USPA badminton female award winner 21-18, 24-22 in the best of three contests.

Tracy Naluwooza's dominancy in the U-13 category of the annual Taibah Schools Badminton Tournament was halted at Lugogo over the weekend after losing to Fadhila Shamika in the final.

Shamika, a student at Kampala Parents stunned the 2015 USPA badminton female award winner 21-18, 24-22 in the best of three contests to win her first major trophy.

"I was a little nervous at the start and maybe that's why I lost my first set but later on I settled to fight back," Shamika said.

Meanwhile, Naluwooza a primary six pupil at Mbuya Parents School said, "I expected to win but maybe she played better. I just have to prepare myself for the next edition".

In the other category, Brian Kasirye beat Davis Senono 21-18, 21-17 to the U-19 boy's title while Chantal Natukunda, Musa Bukenya, Paul Makande, Bridget Nakasi, Emudu Expedito and Brenda Awori won the other U-10, U-13, U-15 and U-19 categories respectively.
