Colleagues in his professional journey described the late Mwine as a professional and academic model to many.

Burial is underway in Rutooma-Kashari, Mbarara District for Dr. Frank Mwine who died on February 23 in California, USA.

Family and friends of the late Dr. Frank Mwine on Friday gathered at All Saint Cathedral - Nakasero for a funeral service for the fallen former World Bank professional and defunct Uganda Commercial Bank (UCB) Managing Director.

Speaking during the service, his personal physician, Dr. Sebbaale Kato revealed to the mourners that the late succumbed to Supranuclear Palsy, a quite rare neurodegenerative disease.

The service, celebrated by Rt. Rev. Dr Edward Muhiima, the retired Bishop of North Ankole Diocese attracted several dignitaries including the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister, Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, Minister for foreign affairs, Hon. Sam Kuteesa, Hon. Jim Muhwezi and Hon Maria Kiwanuka; among other persons close to the deceased.

Several friends and family members that spoke at the ceremony testified that the late Mwine had great sentiments for his family though his jobs; both at the World Bank and UCB required him to be away from them for quite lengthy periods.

His colleagues in his professional journey, including Daniel Nsibambi; who represented the former UCB fraternity, described the late Mwine as a professional and academic model to many that had the opportunity to meet and work him.

"Dr. Mwine designed schemes that helped rehabilitate Uganda's ailing economy at the time. The economy had suffered a lot due to the civil strife that had lasted several years and it took the charisma and professionalism of Dr. Mwine to stabilise everything," Nsibambi remarked.

Rt. Hon. Rugunda described Mwine as a man that was in many ways focused towards working for the best. "He did not only desire to work for the best but also always wanted even the other people to get the best," he said.

"His revolutionary works at UCB are a clear example of how Mwine wanted the rest of the Ugandans to have the best; especially the farmers to whom he did his best to extend banking opportunities to so that they could be well financed to develop," the Prime Minister added.

He also informed the mourners gathered at the church that H. E Yoweri Museveni will be present at the burial of the fallen son of the nation; who was also the first Ugandan to ever graduate from the Harvard Law School.

The family revealed to the mourners that the late Mwine had lived his life to the fullest and that's why his life should only be celebrated rather than mourned. They also thanked the Rt. Hon Ruhakana Rugunda for helping them bring the body back to Uganda.
