FUFA Big League: Wandegeya host Synergy

Synergy beat Wandegeya in the reverse fixture in Masaka.

Wandegeya FC return to action on Thursday against Synergy FC in the FUFA Big League.

The last time the two sides met, Synergy won 2-1 in the first round in Masaka.

Wandegeya, who are in eighth and 11 points behind leaders Proline FC, have since played friendlies and also come into Thursday's tie following a one-and-a-half week's break.

But their skipper Joseph Kayira is a doubt after picking up a shoulder injury in their last game against Soana FC.

The Kanyanya-based side is hit by other injuries - Francis Kinene and Denis Kamada (both ankle problems).

Captain Kayira says their new players will be key in "helping us win most games in the second round".

And one of them is Fred Kyambadde, formerly of The Saints FC, whose vast experience in the league and a bit of top-flight football will prove significant.

Meanwhile, Synergy captain Muwanga Ronald says they are prepared to get three points from Kampala "just like we did at home in Masaka".

"We are not afraid of Wandegeya FC because all our players are fit and ready to play," he says.
