Local council elections in Tororo district was very peaceful without any major cases of violence reported despite low voter turn up.

Sowali Kamulya the Bukedi regional police spokesperson said the whole exercise was generally peaceful without any major cases of violence reported to police as compared to the previous elections.

In Malaba and Tororo towns, the residents just went about their normal business after ignoring the voting process.

Some of the resident said they had lost morale after the presidential and parliamentary elections while others said it was needless to vote because of the alleged manipulation of results by the polling officials.

The incumbent LC5 chairman Emmanuel is tussling it out with NRM's Apollo Jaramogi, Wilson Okachuga and John Obbo all independents.
