Mbarara wants circuit rally

The Mbarara rally caused a lot of excitement in the region forcing local leaders to request for a sprint circuit in the western region.

The area RDC appealed for an annual sprint circuit in the area to promote tourism and business.

"Business boomed in town. This was total tourism and I appeal to the organisers to consider bringing the circuit here. We have big space (golf course) and we shall lobby for them to host us," Immy Kateera stated.

The rally saw 20 out of the 37 cars finish the event which had the sixth section cancelled because of safety reasons.

Top drivers Duncan Mubiru, Jas Mangat, Musa Kabega, Dr.Ashraf Muhammed and defending champion Arthur Blick Jr dropped out in the third and fourth sections.

"We cancelled that section because the roads were narrow," the event manager Haji Gombe stated.

Gombe added that safety was a priority in whatever they were doing and that is why the Super Special Stage in Masaka on Saturday was cancelled after one run.
