SC Villa need sh100m for CAF Confederations Cup

After raising $5,000 (sh17m) over the weekend, SC Villa have not rested on their laurels.

The club, that needs sh106m has explored more ways that will help them raise the balance of sh89m to enable the team travel to Sudan for the CAF Confederations Cup match against Al Watani FC on February 13.

The club hopes to raise more funds during the international friendly against Kenyan side Gor Mahia at Nakivubo Stadium on Wednesday.

The Kenyan giants are expected to arrive in the country tomorrow ahead of the friendly game and tickets will go for sh5, 000 (ordinary) and sh10,000 for the VIP pass.

But according to Villa's Public Relations Officer (PRO) Ivan Kakembo, the game will double as a fundraiser and at the same time help to gauge their players' fitness levels as they prepare for their continental engagement.

Earlier on Saturday, SC Villa President Ben Misagga had told New Vision that: "We have started a fundraising that will help us raise the money we need for the CAF matches. We also ask all well-wishers to come and support our cause. I thank Pastor Robert Kayanja for supporting the club in this period."
