When Arthur Blick Jr. announced his return to motor rallying last year after an eight-year break, he promised to win three championship titles (the NRC, motocross and enduro). But fans and drivers alike called it a joke and a dream.
However, at the end of the season, the ten-time motocross champion emerged both the National Rally Championship (NRC) and the enduro national champion.
Now the Shell Helix sponsored driver has told his rivals to back-off the NRC title as he is out to defend it starting with victory in the Lato Milk Mbarara rally this weekend.
"We are aware of ebisodde (EvoX) in the championship this season, but we are out to defend our title beginning with this rally.
"I'm confident with our good Lord Jesus Christ, victory will be ours," Blick said after testing his Subaru N10 on Rubaga road (below).
He said he spent $45,000 (about sh156m) to rebuild the engine not just to participate but to defend the title.
Meanwhile, he called on spectators to keep off the roads.
"We know the sections are tight but this is a better car than the one we drove last year. It has a dog-box which is good in tight sections," Blick also said.
He will face a tough challenge from Christakis Fitidis, Rauf Adam, Desh Kananura, 2014 NRC champion Ronald Ssebuguzi (EvoX), Duncan ‘Kikankane' Mubiru and OiLibya sponsored Dr. Ahmed Ashraf (Subaru N14).
