Mbuga was pronounced free of the charges on grounds that Kayondo agreed that charges be dropped because they had reconciled

The Makindye Magistrate Court has today dismissed the assault charges against against city socialite SK Mbuga.

Mbuga who was dragged to court by his partner and singer Leila Kayondo for assaulting her on December 31, at Speke Resort Munyonyo, was pronounced free of the charges by the Chief Magistrate, Richard Mafabi on grounds that the complainant (Kayondo) agreed before court that charges should be dropped because they had reconciled.

"Since the complainant made an additional statement and voluntarily opted to reconcile with the partner whom he stood surety of, I therefore drop the assault charges levied against Mbuga," Mafabi ruled amidst a packed court.

He added that the lead evidence had been withdrawn since the two minds have met and there is no coercion.

Mbuga in the company of lawyers Kenneth Paul Kakande and Hussein Hillal thanked Allah.

"Am happy that the magistrate has made a fair ruling based on truth and justice," Mbuga said.
A smiling Leila Kayondo, thanked God for bringing the matter at the end.

"I started the year on a sad note arising from this matter but thank God it has come to an end," Kayondo clarified.

Earlier on, Mbuga caused excitement at the washing bay which is opposite court when he brought five cars to be washed and paid fifty thousand shillings for each.

Prosecution heard that on December 31, Mbuga found Kayondo at Speke Resort Munyonyo with a fellow artiste Hellen Lukoma in the company of a Congolese businessman who was unknown to Mbuga, forcing him to quiz her which resulted into a fight.

Kayondo filed a complaint at Kabalagala Police Station, alleging that Mbuga assaulted her, leaving her with a bruised face among other injuries.
