Kampala DPC in court over Pine Car murder

ASP Aaron Baguma is accused of murder jointly with the Pine Car Depot proprietor Mohammed Ssebuwuufu

KAMPALA Central Police boss is scheduled to appear in court today over murder charge.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Aaron Baguma is accused of murder jointly with the Pine Car Depot proprietor Mohammed Ssebuwuufu, over the murder of Dona Katushabe.

According to the Director of Public Prosecution's (DPP) spokesperson Jane Okuo, Baguma is expected at Buganda Road Court to be charged with murder.

"If you abet murder, you can also be charged with an offence of murder,"Okuo said.

Okuo said Baguma is being indicted for murder because he allegedly abetted the murder of Katushabe.

Baguma's co-accused Ssebuwufu who is currently on remand in Luzira prison, is charged together with Philip Mirambo, a Congolese national; Stephen Lwanga, Godfrey Kayiza and Paul Tasingika.

Prosecution accused them of torturing Katushabe to death on October 21, 2015 at Pine car depot located on Lumumba Avenue in Kampala.

The accused are alleged to have also robbed the late Katushabe of a mobile phone worth sh300,000.

Katusabe bought a car from Ssebuwufu worth sh19m and paid sh10m cash but she had not paid the balance of sh9m.

Under the Penal Code section 188 and 189 any person found guilty of murder is liable to death sentence upon conviction.
