Kiggundu said some of the candidates are deliberately ignoring the campaign guidelines

THE Electoral Commission boss Eng. Dr. Badru Kiggundu has vowed to take punitive measures against all candidates engaged in electoral violence.

Kiggundu made the warning while opening a stake holders meeting of election partners on voter education noting that a number of candidates have failed to comply with the given guidelines for the campaign process.

He said some of the candidates are now deliberately ignoring the guidelines which has in turn led to the violence.

Kiggundu moved to reassure Ugandans that the ballot papers to be used in the elections this year will not be duplicated.

"No one can duplicate the ballot papers. That's why we take the printing out of the country because we don't have security printing here. Be assured that the ballot papers will be secure and no one can tamper with them" he said.

Kiggundu who has just returned from a two week trip to Dubai where he had gone to oversee the printing of the ballot papers added that security around the ballot papers has already been tightened to ensure that they are not accessed by anyone else.
