Mbabazi promises to create 5 million jobs

Amama Mbabazi will create five million jobs for the youth during his five year term.

Independent presidential candidate John Patrick Amama Mbabazi currently on a campaign trail in Lango has said that if he is elected he will create five million jobs for the youth during his five year term.

Amama kicked off his campaign from Amolatar on Monday and was supposed to address another one in Dokolo but arrived late. Police blocked the rally in Dokolo and fired tear gas to disperse his supporters.

On Tuesday, Mbabazi was in Alebtong, Otuke and Otuke where he addressed mini rallies at Awalu Primary School in Ajuri constituency and another one in Otuke at Otuke town council before a bigger rally at Omuge Primary School in Bala,Kole district.

Mbabazi said he plans to build community banks all over Uganda to provide credit to the people.

"This bank will be for you. If you need money, you take your produce to the cooperative who will give you receipt and you go with it to the bank. This will be the first time for our people to have access to finance," he explained.

Mbabazi explained his plan to introduce value addition at the sub county. He said there will be rice huller, maize mill to ensure people do not sell their produce in raw form.

"We will create new jobs at every sub county in Uganda," he said promising to create 5 million jobs in five years.  At the end of five years, those youth who will not be employed are the lazy ones who do not want to work," he assured.

"We will turn the sub county into a transformation centre. In partnership with you the community, we will turn the sub county into a development centre through cooperative society," he explained.

Mbabazi also promised to introduce health insurance for those who can afford to contribute noting that "There is no way you can be rich without being healthy."

He observed that the Bwindi community hospital has introduced health insurance policy.

Meanwhile, RDC Andrew Awany was involved in fracas with Mbabazi's team at Corner Aloi in Alebtong district.

Awany who was driving his official car stopped complaining that the Mbabazi team had blocked the road. He got involved into a scuffle before he drove off and moments later returned with police just as Mbabazi was leaving the area.

Mbabazi had gone to Aloi to apologise to them for not having made it there on Tuesday. He urged them to vote for him for change and proper economic development.

Mbabazi then addressed a mini rally at Barr primary school in Lira distrust before proceeding to Agweng where he is expected to lay wreath at Barlonyo Massacre site.
