KCCA defeated Maroons 2-1 at the Luzira Prisons grounds to ascend to the top of the Uganda Premier League table in what is shaping up to be the tightest race in recent times.
The victory puts them joint top on 17 points with defending champions Vipers who defeated Soana 2-1. The two teams are also tied on goal difference, goals scored and conceded.
Michael Birungi and Muzamir Mutyaba found the net for the Lugogo based side while Patrick Kaddu scored a consolation for Maroons.
In Kavumba, Saddam Juma and Erisa Sekisambu scored for Vipers while Dan Ssewava was on target for Soana.
Elsewhere, The Saints registered their first win of the season after defeating URA 1-0 away at the Mehta Stadium in Lugazi. An own from Jimmy Kulaba condemned URA to their third consecutive defeat.
At Kakindu Stadium, experienced midfielder Augustine Nsumba scored the only goal of the game as BUL beat Sadolin Paints 1-0 in the Jinja derby.
Mustafa Mugony's goal was enough to earn JMC Hippos a 1-0 win over Lweza at Wankulukuku while Bright Stars lost 1-0 to Police at Matugga courtesy of Peter Senyonjo's goal.
