The victory puts them joint top on 17 points with defending champions Vipers who defeated Soana 2-1. The two teams are also tied on goal difference, goals scored and conceded.

Michael Birungi and Muzamir Mutyaba found the net for the Lugogo based side while Patrick Kaddu scored a consolation for Maroons.

Elsewhere, The Saints registered their first win of the season after defeating URA 1-0 away at the Mehta Stadium in Lugazi. An own from Jimmy Kulaba condemned URA to their third consecutive defeat.

At Kakindu Stadium, experienced midfielder Augustine Nsumba scored the only goal of the game as BUL beat Sadolin Paints 1-0 in the Jinja derby.

Mustafa Mugony's goal was enough to earn JMC Hippos a 1-0 win over Lweza at Wankulukuku while Bright Stars lost 1-0 to Police at Matugga courtesy of Peter Senyonjo's goal.
