Police on Thursday deployed heavily in Mbale town and ‘forced’ presidential aspirant, Amama Mbabazi, out of Mbale. Police vowed to escort Mbabazi up to Budaka district to ensure that he does not hold mini rallies on his way to Jinja. Budaka is about 20km from Mbale.

Mbabazi has been lodging at Mt Elgon hotel and has been holding meetings with his supporters.

Police said they had information that Mbabazi would address mini rallies on his way to Jinja where he is set to consult today.

In Jinja, security has been beefed up. The Regional Police commander, Edgar Nyabongo, said they will not allow Mbabazi to hold a rally. The former premier is set to hold a consultative meeting at Kakindu and later address a rally at Kazimungu industrial park.
