The Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga Tuesday received sh5m cash from FDC president Major General Mugisha Muntu as the party’s contribution to the reconstruction of the Kasubi royal tombs.

Muntu, who said that he admires Mayiga’s non-partisan perspective, also pledged that the party will look for another sh5m and forward it to Mengo, the seat of Buganda Kingdom.

“It is a pleasure to give support to Buganda Kingdom as it builds itself. We have been working quietly but consistently to create a future which is different from the present,” Muntu said, revealing that prosperity for all is a crucial goal that FDC wants to achieve.

Speaking to FDC officials and supporters at the ‘Etoffaali’ (brick) drive held at FDC headquarters in Najjanakumbi, Mayiga advised politicians to play politics that unites and develops people.

Mayiga is on a two-day tour of Rubaga division.  According to Katikkiro’s tweet, he had so far collected over sh75m by 3pm.

Ever since his appointment, Mayiga has amplified efforts to ensure that Buganda’s glory is restored through not only the reconstruction of Kasubi tombs but also other kingship tombs in Buganda.
