A man believed to be mentally unstable went berserk and bit off parts of his neighbour’s lip, nose and ear in an unprovoked act of insanity that left residents shocked.

A man believed to be mentally unstable went berserk and bit off parts of his neighbour’s lip, nose and ear in an unprovoked act of insanity that left residents shocked.
The victim, Angelo Kisitu ,53, a resident of Mbiriizi - Bigasa in Bukomansimbi sub county narrated that last Wednesday, the day of the attack, the man first shattered his window at home to gain entry into the house but failed.
Realizing danger, Kisitu attempted to sneak out of the house through the back door but his assailant had laid siege.
He jumped Kisitu and bit of chunks of his lower lip, nose and ear as the helpless old man yelled for help .
His two sons with whom he stays; a 15-year old and 6-year old however fled for their lives as their father's face was being devoured.
Neighbours who heard Kisitu’s cries for help rushed to see what was happening and found him writhing in pain in his doorway. His attacker had already fled.
Residents hired a car that that rushed Kisitu all the way to Masaka regional referral hospital from where he was transferred to Mulago.
Kisitu explained that his attacker, who was surprisingly strong, stormed his home stark naked and just went about devouring his face with such ferocity without saying a word.
Residents however identified the attacker only as Ssenkabirwa, 25, a son to Mukasa who is one of the landlords in the area.
They said Ssenkabirwa who is mentally unstable had recently returned from Butabika.
Harriet Nalubwama, a daughter to Kisitu said they spent all their savings on transporting their father to Mulago for treatment and are now stranded in the city.
Kisitu is admitted to Ward 2B where he is being treated.
