Museveni in Kigali for the annual AfDB meet

President Museveni is in Rwandan Capital Kigali for the Africa Development Bank annual meeting currently taking place at Kigali International conference centre at the Serena Hotel.

President Museveni is in Rwandan Capital Kigali for the Africa Development Bank annual meeting currently taking place at Kigali International conference centre at the Serena Hotel.


The President was received at Kigali International Airport by the Rwanda Minister of Foreign Affairs Louise Mushyikiwabo and that of Local government James Musoni.

He will attend the formal opening ceremony of the 2014 annual meetings and later join seven other presidents to a session dubbed, ‘Have Your Say!’ a dialogue with leaders' at the Mount Karisimbi Tent. Thereafter, the President with other Heads of States will have a working lunch with the governors.

The 49th annual meeting of the AfDB and it 40th meetings of its affiliate the Africa Development Fund is being held under the theme, "The Next 50 Years: The Africa We Want."

The meetings have attracted Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors from the Banks 54 regional member countries and over 2,500 delegates.

Recently AfDB launched 'Africa50' designed to help scale up foreign infrastructure investments on the continent. It focuses on increasing the number of bankable infrastructure projects and creating financial structures that facilitate development.

The Bank estimates that current infrastructure needs in Sub-saharan Africa at US$100billion annually with a shortfall of US$31bn each year.
