KENNETH Odeke started his professional career in London on a good note by knocking out his opponent AJ Carter in the third of the four-round non-title fight at York Hall in Bethnal Green in London on Saturday.

But it didn’t go that well for his Ugandan counterpart Martin Mubiru, who lost his fight on a technical knockout after the referee stopped the contest in the third round of the scheduled eight-round fight in favour of his opponent Lee Wood at Nottingham Hall much to the anger of his coaches and managers.

“He still had the energy to fight on. It was not a good decision but I am sure he will have to fight back and prove himself,” said his promoter Andrew Nyakana after the fight.

The Ugandans travelled to East Coast Boxing Club in Ireland to revamp their professional boxing career through Atlantic Entertainment, but delayed to get fights because most opponents feared their style.

“It was good for Odeke and with more training; we hope he will be able to get some more fights as he guns for a title fight. This could be an opportunity for him to have a few doors open up for him as we look forward,” Nyakana added.
