MOSHA MUYANJA

Q: Congratulations! You must have felt so honored when you found out you were the Teeniez Hottest TV Personality. What was your initial reaction?

I couldn't believe it at first. I knew people had voted but it was surreal when my name was called out. You can never be prepared for these things. I hid under the table when the nominees were being read. I didn't want people to see my face and read my reaction. I have the worst poker face. Lol.

What did you win and how did you celebrate?

I won an award for the Hottest TV Personality.  That night I went home and I celebrated by praying with my mother. That's the only celebration I needed.

Were you scared of the competition?

I was scared, very scared. I was nominated with very talented people.  People, who have been on TV for years, people who inspired me to work on TV, people who have a huge following. I was very scared.

Who was your biggest competitor?

Douglas Lwanga and MC Kats; those two are my friends and also my mentors in a way. I get advice from them. So here I was competing with my friends.

How long have you been a TV personality?

I have been on TV for close to one and a half years. If you round it off two years.

What motivates you?

My motivation comes from feedback; the people that watch my show. I thrive to learn something new with every show. So I am eager to learn and that pushes me every day.

Describe for us one of the best days you have ever had as a TV personality?

I do not have one particular day per say however I have moments. I like to interview people and when someone feels comfortable enough to tell you their secret or let you into their lives is priceless.

What qualities do you think a TV presenter possesses?

Qualities of a TV personality! That one is very tricky.  However I think to be a TV personality you have to be able to teach and learn.  Your audience needs to learn a thing or two from you. They should be able to have a reason to watch you. Either for the information you give, the way you dress etc.

What are your biggest challenges in this career?

Biggest challenge is loneliness. Lol, you find that most times you are alone. Maybe it’s just me. I am weird. Aside from family you find the number of friends you have reduces. So I need friends, anybody out there?  Hehehe. Also living under a microscope is daunting. Sometimes want to know everything about you.

Why do you think you won?

Honestly I don't know. I only hope I won because I deserved to win. I also wish I won because I made somebody smile one day when they watched my show. Or maybe  because I changed someone’s life or inspired them.

What advice do you have for a young TV personality who is just starting out?

Watch too much TV. Watch everything.  From Skizzy to Fashionista to Rated Next to E! to ESPN to BBC. Pick one TV personality you like and take cues from them.  Write notes on how they talk how they move, everything. Talk to yourself in the mirror.  Study your face and expressions. Read. It's too much work but in the end it pays off. However most importantly DON'T GIVE UP. People won't understand your dream until you make them understand. DON'T GIVE UP!!!

DENZEL MWIYERETSI

Q: How did you feel when you were announced winner?

I was actually walking in when I heard my name. It was a little surreal. By the time I made my way onto stage my award had been put aside. But I was welcomed back onstage to receive it and say thanks.

What does winning this ward mean to you either professionally or personally?

On professional level, I remember thinking how I have done all the various sponsors on my show plus radio station X-FM, proud by winning the award. Personally, well it was a moment of pride to know what I devout most of time has been appreciated.

Was this a dream-come-true?

Yes, it was a dream come true, winning an award in entertainment or any other field is certainly a dream-come-true

What do you think made you win?

I think I won, not because I am better than the other nominee’s but because I tend to think outside the box in my style and presentation on air and in person. I make my brand markedly different.

What motivates you to give the best?

I am motivated to give my best by my passion for entertainment (radio presentation_ to inspire and grow our industry plus generally I hope to improve the quality of radio.

What show do you present?

On radio, I present The Shuffle on 94.8X-FM and TV, I present backstage pass, 7pm on Urban

What should your fans expect from you?

Diversity, I try not present the same way for too long. Monotony ever brutally builds predictability which gets boring. I try to change my ways not too much to stay relevant.

Have you won other awards before?

I have ever won one award for TV but radio this is my first in Uganda. I won a similar one for radio while I worked in Namibia.
