KAMPALA - A concert by Radio & Weasel scheduled to take place Friday in Kampala hangs in balance following the intervention of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).

The city authority insisted that the duo has no permit and so the show will not take place.

The celebrated Ugandan musicians, commonly known as the dynamic duo, were set to treat their fans to a two-in-one album launch dubbed 'Amaaso-Ntunga Concert' in Kampala.

KCCA's intervention will be a huge blow for Radio and Weasel, the event organisers and the huge fan base.

But the show could still go on only if the organisers have sorted that one issue with KCCA.

The fans will be more disappointed that on top of missing watching their music stars perform live, they will also not have an added treat from other big local artistes like Jose Chameleone and Bebe Cool, who were earlier reported to grace the launch.

The show was set to take place at Hotel Africana in Kampala but was cancelled due to failure by Radio and Weasel to acquire a permit from KCCA allowing them to stage their double-album launch.

“They have no permit from us, so there is no way we can allow them to go on with the show,” said Robert Musisi, the deputy spokesperson of KCCA.

Kalumba told New Vision online that the duo had also not acquired police permission, which is one of the requirements for acquiring a KCCA permit to stage a show in the heart of the city.

He added that KCCA requires one to present to them a plan of how they are planning to manage the traffic flow, sanitation, among other requirements.

“Unless they clear with us, the show will not be there,” declared the KCCA official.

Efforts to get a comment from Radio and Weasel were futile as they declined to pick our calls.

By press time, arrangements for the show were going on as planned at Hotel Africana, with the stage fully worked on and fliers for different sponsors already erected.
