Ex RRU operative is Nansana crime boss - Kirumira

A former operative with the defunct Rapid Response Unit, now Flying Squad, heads a notorious crime gang in  Nansana, according to the area Police boss Muhammed Kirumira.

Fresh from incarceration over an alleged bribery allegation Kirumira who has made a name for being a nonsense police boss who leads from the frontline made the revelation after reporting back on duty last week.

Kirumira revealed that former RRU operative Kamada Kayizzi heads a crime gang that operates in the areas of Makerere Kikoni, Kivvulu and Sir Apollo Kaggwa road.

Kayizzi's gang also operates around the notorious Kibulooka in Nansana while his deputy in command called Sketch heads a hang that operates around Namung’oona.

Kirumira named some of the gang members including women as; Meddie Ssemanda, Muliika, Majwega, Seru, Fred Mumpi, Matovu, Henry Ssenkayi, Eddie Bizibiti, Mityana, Isaac, Asse, Tasha and Maggie.

He further revealed the gang is armed with a gun that belonged to one of their members, one Kato, who was last year gunned down during a robbery at a fuel station in Bweyogerere.

Mid this month police engaged members of the gang on a robbery mission forcing them to abandon a Toyota Raum, registration number UAU 257Q. The vehicle turned out to belong to Annet Katuntu, a lover to Sketch.

Kirumira was a few weeks back locked up at Nsambya police barracks over seemingly dubious bribery allegations but his
boss, Kampala Metropolitan police commander Andrew Felix Kaweesi's confidence and trust in him never wavered.

After Kirumira was released pending investigations into the allegations, Kaweesi immediately ordered that he resumes his duties citing that he was one of the most hardworking lieutenants on ground.

Indeed Kirumira has become a household name among Nansana residents and even criminals in the area loathe him so much that they celebrated his short-lived incarceration.

Guard on run over murder

Meanwhile police are hunting for a security guard, Banett Owembabazi, who shot a man in cold blood at Oil  Com refilling station in Nansana.

Abdallah Emma Katana, 26, was gunned down on Easter Sunday when he had an altercation with the guard after  he grazed a car that was parked at the station.

Driving a Toyota Ipsum UAm 754X, Emma left his home in Ntinda - Kigoowa to meet up with friends in Nansana.

As he entered the fuelling station to refill he grazed a parked car which sparked off a quarrel with the guard.

Before long Owembabazi shot the Emma in the the side just below the heart and the bullet went right through him on the other side, hitting someone else who was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

By the time Kirumira and his men arrived at the scene Owembabazi had already fled. The gun was later  recovered abandoned at Finance Trust offices.
