RIVALS Ali Omar Yasser and Alistair Blick in MX 85cc category have temporarily buried their rivalry to focus on battling Kenya in the FIM Africa Central Africa Motocross Championship in Busiika on Easter Sunday.

It will be baptism of fire as Uganda’s best Ali Omar Yasser and Alistair Blick battles Kenya best Rolf Kihara and Elias Sherman in the 85cc class.

“Actually the most important is not me winning or Alistair winning but Uganda winning and that is what we are targeting,” Omar told New Vision Sport.

Despite heavy rainfall on the track in the days leading up to the race, the battle ground is set and team Uganda is ready to defy all odds and win the first round of the championship.

According to team captain Arthur Blick Jnr, the team has been training in all conditions and is confident that the rain that has made the track slippery is not a threat to his charges like it has been in the past.

“We went through wet area training and that is no longer a threat. Even me who hated to ride on wet tracks had to compete in enduro competitions in Lubowa to master the muddy sections,” Blick stated.

He further explained that the organisers had set up several drainage points that will keep the track user friendly despite being slippery.

He urged fans to support the team but avoid crossing the track for safety purposes.

“We know our fans love us a lot and will turn up in big numbers to support the team, but I appeal to them to observe safety and avoid crossing the track, and also staying a safe distance from jumps,” Blick stated.

Crowd’s darling Maxime Van Pee will battle Kenya’s Tutu Maina as Blick takes on Samir Sherman in the MX1 category.
