PALM Sunday marks the beginning of a special week leading to Easter Sunday, the day Christians mark Jesus' resurrection from the dead

PALM Sunday marks the beginning of a special week leading to Easter Sunday, the day Christians mark Jesus' resurrection from the dead the Parish Priest of St Francis Matugga, Fr. Voytek Ulman said while he leading a congregation during Palm Sunday celebrations.

“As Catholics all over the world, we celebrate the Palm Sunday that symbolizes the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, a day that falls a week before his crucifixion, death and resurrection, Christians” Fr. Ulman said.

Fr. Ulman rode a donkey to symbolize Jesus Christ’s entrance into Jerusalem as Christians sung hymns and waved palm leaves.

The procession started from Kobil in Matugga Town and made its way to Matugga Church. 

Fr. Ulman added that “Palm Sunday is a feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter. It recalls Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem and marks the start of solemn Holy Week ceremonies.”

“Palm Sunday is very important day for Christians because it was said that palm branches were placed on the path of Jesus, while he was entering Jerusalem. Therefore, palm branches bear an important meaning for Christians” he added.
