National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has won the prestigious 2014 Water Leaders Award during the Global Water Summit in Paris.

The award was handed over to NWSC leadership by Liberian president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf on Monday April 7 in Paris.

Global Water Awards are an annual competition designed to reward excellence and innovation; recognizing the projects and technologies which have been making waves in the water sector in the last year.

The Water Leaders' Award under which NWSC got a distinction is the most unique of the Global Water Awards. The Award recognizes the people who are making a difference at the frontline of the battle for safe water and good sanitation.

NWSC was recognized for its innovations and efforts that have resulted in significant increase in service coverage and supply reliability.

The award was received by a delegation led by state minister for water Betty Bigombe, the Board Chairman, Eng. Dr. Christopher Ebal, Vice chairperson of the Board, Ruth Asiimwe Kanyaruju and the Managing Director Eng. Dr Silver Mugisha.
