Museveni in Kigali for genocide commemoration

President Yoweri Museveni is in Kigali, Rwanda for the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the genocide in which at least eight-hundred-thousand people were killed.

President Yoweri Museveni is in Kigali, Rwanda for the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the genocide in which at least eight-hundred-thousand people were killed.

President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya who is also the current Chairman of the East African Community is also in Kigali for the same.  

President Museveni was received on arrival by the Rwanda Minister of Local Government James Musoni and the Chief of the Rwanda Defence Forces, General Patrick Nyanvumba.

Rwanda will today start a week of official mourning to mark the 20th anniversary of the country's genocide on Monday.

 Meanwhile, the French ambassador to Rwanda said Monday he has been barred from attending events marking the 20th anniversary of the genocide, amid a major diplomatic row surrounding France's controversial role in the events of 1994.
