Kampala RCCs warn on demonstrations

Deputy Residential City Commissioners (RCCs) for Kampala have warned youth and politicians against staging unlawfully demonstrations in the city center saying such demonstrations interrupt business flow.

Attending prayers at Christian focus center in Kisenyi on Sunday, Kampala and Kawempe deputy RCCs Alan Kajik (Kampala) and Deborah Mercy Nabukenya (Kawempe) said illegal demonstrations were a major setback to the business community in Kampala.

“Why would one demonstrate at the expense of the innocent business community whose property and food is destroyed by rioters.  Imagine a poor woman has prepared her food in a restaurant and it is eaten by demonstrators, who pays for that loss, we should avoid these reckless demonstrations,” said Kajik.

Kajik urged demonstrators in Kampala to ensure that they follow right procedures that include informing police of their planned demonstrations to avoid causing chaos in the central business district.

Nabukenya (Kawempe) said for the development of Kampala, all city dwellers and leaders needed to work together to ensure that peace and security is always kept in check for the safety of Kampalans.

“We all need to work together to ensure that our city remains peaceful for a good working environment for our people why should we always demonstrate when we can solve issues amicably,” asked Nabukenya.

The two deputy RCCs pledged to work hand in hand to ensure that there is security in Kampala and its suburbs for the good working environment.

Meanwhile Bishop David Kigganda of Christian focus center church commended the two Residential city commissioners for embracing God and urged all leaders to make God their number one priority.

“It is good to have leaders who fear God, because with such leaders you are rest assured the country is blessed,” noted Kigganda.

He also applauded President Museveni for assenting to the Anti-Gay law saying Christians would organize special prayers in Kampala starting March 24 to thank Parliament and President Museveni for putting the law in place.
