The Catholic Bishop for Lugazi Diocese, Mathias Ssekamanya has called for togetherness amongst women who believe in Jesus Christ.

Ssekamanya says that it makes no sense for women who have Jesus Christ as a unifying factor to create divisions amongst themselves basing on their different religious sects.

He made the remarks on Friday while delivering his sermon to a congregation of women from different religions under the Christian faith who gathered at Lugazi Cathedral to mark the International Christian Women’s day.

The service drew hundreds of Catholics, Anglican and the Seventh day Adventist women from the districts of Mukono, Buikwe, Buvuma and Kayunga.

Ssekamanya said that Anglican women under their umbrella of Mother’s Union have deferent developmental programmes which would be good if they had extended them to other Christian women beyond their faith.

“Mother’s Union members have mentoring programmes to newly wedded couples. Teach them modern farming methods and they also go to schools and talk to young girls. Such programmes are good and Jesus our savior would be grateful if they are extended to other Christians beyond the Anglicans,” he said.

Ssekamanya asked the mothers to use their Christian umbrellas in the Church to fight the decaying morals in the youths today.

“I urge you to become one; meet on a quarterly basis and forge a way forward on development issues, morals and ways of building strong foundation of the families,” he said.

He added that being Christians who believe in one God, they are all working for the same goal which is heaven.

“Avoid divisions and instead work for a common goal under the pillar of Christianity,” Ssekamanya emphasized.
Sr. Tezra Ssebaggala, the wife to the Anglican Bishop of Mukono Diocese welcomed the organization which brought together the women who believes in Jesus.

The wife to the Seventh day Adventist Arch Bishop, Miriam Kakembo Nabatanzi said that their union as women who believes in Jesus is going to help them spear head in the development of their districts and Uganda at large.
