Debating is one of the vital ways in which policies to develop the country are thrust afore and sometimes, if plausible, the resolutions the debates spring are implemented.

The battle of the tongues debate is one such debate, except, it is not carried out in parliament but rather, in an academic environment where, in the words of Baker Muyanja, the executive coordinator of battle of the gifted tongues, the future discussants will be nurtured into the system of creating solutions of a national magnitude.

The battle of the gifted tongues launched its 2014 campaign at a press conference last week at Serena hotel in the V.I.P lounge where the organizers laid their propaganda.

"Through the means of a great motion on a crisis or a situation in the country, the debate can be used to inform, educate and in a way cultivate help through the horde of resolutions that can be brought up on the day of
discussion.
With such a formulae, the young Africa can be able to tap into the uniqueness of global critical thinking, global effective communication and global participation in decision making processes," said Muyanja.

He says it also seeks to particularly avail various opportunities for young Africans to develop reading, writing and speaking skills to groom and empower an action oriented generation of young African academicians with a
global outlook.

In a brief demonstrational debate that was held, one of the discussants, a girl from a secondary school noted that 70% percent of the country's work-force are youths and if their mindset is changed through the various predicaments that the debates plan to tackle, it will help find resolutions to most of those predicaments in the future.

It is slated to start in March.
