KCCA switch tactics for 2nd leg

PUTTING together a midfield that can not only possess the ball, but also quickly discharge it upfront, is coach George Nsimbe’s main task ahead of the CAF Champions League return leg against Nkana FC.

“They overpowered us in this department in Kitwe. That shouldn’t happen at Namboole,” explained Nsimbe, who as a result has been paying special emphasis on the midfield since the team resumed training on Monday.

Nsimbe is praying that Steven Bengo recovers in time for the match. 

“He has good possession, distribution and can also pass well.” Bengo has been carrying a thigh injury for quite a while. 

KCCA’s failure to impose themselves in the midfield was the reason they were almost kicked out of the race by El Merreikh at the previous stage.

KCCA was outplayed in the Namboole return leg, losing 2-1. The Lugogo side was only saved by the earlier 2-0 win in Sudan.

But as Nsimbe lays strategies for Saturday’s encounter, his counterpart Masuso Mwale is confident Nkana can turn tables.

Coach Mwale is positive despite being held to a 2-all draw by a ten-man KCCA in Kitwe last Saturday.

“We are going to go flat out to win the game in Uganda,” Mwale said in a post-match interview after failing to beat KCCA at Arthur Davies Stadium.

Mwale said the return leg will be easier than the first meeting in Kitwe.

“This one was tough because we didn’t know the way our opponents play,” Mwale said. 

“I want to believe with hard work we are going to overcome them.”
