The Attorney General (AG) Peter Nyombi, has petitioned the High Court to stay proceedings in the Erias Lukwago tribunal report case, until the Court of Appeal pronounces itself on an appeal against Justice Yasin Nyanzi's decision to hear the case.

Nyombi filed the application on Friday last week. The application is a result of Nyanzi's decision of February 4, refusing to step aside from hearing the case after the AG accused him of bias.

State attorney Imelda Adong has sworn an affidavit in support of thr application saying it would be illogical to hear the case when an appeal against Nyanzi's  decision is pending.

Adong stated that it would be improper for the honorable court to proceed with the hearing before the determination of the intended appeal on the matter.

Nyombi lamented that in the event that the case is not halted, the intended appeal would be useless.
