Blood Transfusion needs sh9b for new storage facilities

The Uganda Blood Transfusion Service (UBTS) wants sh9b to procure new equipment. According to UBTS director, Dr. Dorothy Kyeyune Byabazaire, among the key equipment urgently needed are the testing and storage apparatus.

The Uganda Blood Transfusion Service (UBTS) wants sh9b to procure new equipment.


According to UBTS director, Dr. Dorothy Kyeyune Byabazaire, among the key equipment urgently needed are the testing and storage apparatus.

Byabazaire told New Vision that the money is urgently needed to recruit more field staff in different parts of the country to collect blood.

“We need to recruit more staff.  We target to collect an extra 60,000 units this year,” she noted.

Kyeyune noted that they also need to switch to new innovations for quality services.

She said they need to replace old vehicles to enable them traverse the country for blood collection.

Kyeyune called upon leaders at various levels to sensitize their electorate about the importance of donating blood to save lives.
