Globally, a Centre of Excellence refers to “a team, a shared facility or an entity that provides leadership, evangelization, best practices, research, support and/or training for a focus area”, Wikipedia. UIRI’s focus area has been Uganda’s socio-economic transformation through enhanced technology use. In our specific context, UIRI is a Centre of Excellence for EAC in Research and Development (R&D).
